About the Show:
Award-winning dancer and comedian Sam Burkett is here for the freshest gossip – and they want it LIVE. Watch them spin your stories into a hilarious blend of improv comedy and experimental dance. Expect the unexpected, and come ready to spill. GOSS is an improvised dance-comedy solo show where Sam gossips with the audience live. Each performance is entirely unique, shaped by spontaneous conversations, physicality and the atmosphere in the room. Think crowd work special meets performance art. It's about creating a space of genuine listening and connection... that is also incredibly stupid.
GOSS is a Just Something Different Production
This performance is a preview before Sam takes the show to the Edinburgh Fringe from the 17th - 30th August. Tickets for Edinburgh are available here.
About the Artist:
Sam Burkett (they/them) is an award-winning maker and performer working at the intersection of dance and comedy based in London. Rooted in their background as a contemporary dancer and comedy improviser, Sam’s work playfully blurs the edges of these art forms, blending physicality and humour to examine identity, relationships, and emotional contradictions. Sam’s work has been supported by Arts Council England, Scottish Ballet, Dance Base, Yorkshire Dance, Dance Studio Leeds, Leeds City Council, & Chisenhale Dance Space.
Just Something Different produce nuanced and radical Trans & Queer stories that demand to be told live. We’re a production company creating spaces where narratives can empower, thrive and inspire audiences and artists alike. Just Something Different is led by Jesse Donn, an independent producer based in Manchester. Created out of a passion for discovering brave new writers and tackling exciting interdisciplinary work, the organisation exists to find experiences that involve audiences and celebrate Queer and Trans joy from the get-go. Recent productions include DEAR YOUNG MONSTER by Pete MacHale and directed by Sammy Glover (Best Studio Production WhatsOnStage 2024 Nominee, ★★★★★ LouReviews, ★★★★ Broadway World).
