About the Night:
Violet Savage presents the latest version of Watching Me Watching You. Developed through a series of workshops at Chisenhale since the start of the year, the project explores the blurring of process into performance and opens a space for the simultaneity of watching, listening and movement. The workshops guide participants, through a series of improvisational and accumulative tasks, into a communal practice of learning and creation. Intention is activated and subsumed by momentum, the compulsion to keep in time with one another is in tension with the energy available. Time is stretched and consciousness dispersed, opening space for self expression as both an individual and collective body. Every workshop is conceived as a vital encounter, the choreography that emerges is specific and unique to the exchange between those who are present.About the Artist:
Violet Savage is a dancer whose work explores movement at the intersection of sonic and visual art. Her practice draws from improvisation to inhabit the charged space between extremes of self and other through workshops that engage with the tension between presence and memory to present process and outcome simultaneously. At the heart of these workshops is a desire to expand the experience of exploration from a solitary to shared creative act, to experience dance as liveness, care and learning in both individual and collective bodies, resisting the forces of competition and fatigue that pull us apart.
Watching Me Watching You has brought together a cast of movement, visual and sonic artists through a series of workshops that started in January 2026. All are choreographers and performers in the work, they are -
