About the Night:
With so many images passing by every day, it can be hard to really connect with the photos we take. This workshop invites you to slow down and use movement to reconnect with a personal photograph.
We’ll start with a gentle warm-up to help everyone feel comfortable. Then, we’ll use a projector to display your personal images(could be a picture you took or an image that means a lot to you) on the walls, turning the space into an immersive setting. Together, we’ll move with, around, and in response to these images. This is a chance to let your body react to light, size, and memory, turning still photos into a shared, living experience.
This workshop is a safe and welcoming space for everyone. Your privacy matters: all digital files will be deleted right after the session. We respect everyone’s needs—if you’d rather not use the projector, feel free to bring a printed photo instead. No movement experience is required.
About the Host:
Yash Zhang (一飞) is a filmmaker, and sometimes a grower and a mover. Their work explores queerness, fluidity, mental health, and trees. Their films and collaborations have been featured at various film festivals and moving image exhibitions internationally.
Accessibility:
Please note, we are on the second floor of a warehouse building, accessed by a staircase only. We regret that we cannot currently adequately support wheelchair users and those for whom stairs are a barrier.
We are committed to removing other barriers to access. If you would like to talk to us about your access needs, please contact: sam@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk. Read more about our commitments to anti-ableism as part of our Artist Community Culture Document
About WTF Thursdays:
WTF Thursdays is a space creating possibilities for experimentation and community-building amongst artists. Each evening, CDS hands over the keys to the building for an artist in the CDS Artist Community to host an event in the spirit of low-stakes, DIY action.
Tickets are low-cost, pay what you can, with all the proceeds going to the host artist. If you need access to a free ticket, please email: sam@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk
