About the Event:

Join us for a joyful, subversive evening of performance by disabled artists.

With performances, films, and activist interventions by artists from the CDS Artist Community, including Niquelle LaTouche, Michael Mendones, and Blodwyn Jenkins. These works are being developed through Creative and Heartfelt Tactics, a residency programme exploring art practice as activism, led by Dolly Sen and Caroline Cardus.

We know it’s often hard for disabled and neurodivergent people to connect with peers because of physical, environmental and financial barriers in the arts. This event provides an informal space to gather in solidarity, connect over free food, and celebrate the radical work of disabled artists. We hope you’ll join us in solidarity, rage, mischief and madness…

These events are open to anyone who identifies as disabled, neurodivergent, or living with a long term condition, and the night is staffed by people with those lived experiences.

Tickets are set at £5, as a small contribution towards the cost of running the event. If this cost is a barrier to you please email us: sam@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk

About the Artists:

Blodwyn Davies (they/she) is a queer, Welsh born, neurodiverse and Disabled dance artist whose practice looks at challenging the perceptions of disability within the arts, promoting individuality and inclusivity in their works. They believe that every 'body' can dance. Forever fighting for peace, freedom, and equality is at the very heart of Blodwyn's practice.

Niquelle LaTouche is an artist, educator and cultural producer. At 31 (2024), burnout ignited a journey of acceptance, gratitude and a reintroduction as a Disabled artist committed to radical empathy through a currency of care.

About Creative and Heartfelt Tactics:

This project is led by Chisenhale Dance Space and Disability Arts Online, with funds from Trust for London’s Disability Justice Fund.

CDS and Poplar Union are partnering on this project, connecting our respective East London creative communities offsite in their wheelchair accessible building.
