About the Lab:

What does feeling good mean to you?

Seek joy and pleasure in being in your body and dancing with others this summertime. Feel Good is an open-level dance class series, where we will collectively investigate what it means to ‘feel good’. How can we use dancing as a means to feel good in our full selves; body, mind and spirit?

Tune into yourself, indulge in your movement curiosities and connect with others in a judgement-free space, rooted in a spirit of fun, curiosity and experimentation. We’ll focus on what your dancing feels like to you, rather than what it looks like. What moves you into dancing? What can dancing help us to move through with a little more ease?

Ingredients for these classes include: guided improvisation, scores and tasks (simple instructions that can create and hold our dancing), travelling across the floor, gentle phrases (movement ‘sentences’ to expand our experiences), all supported by a collective playlist.

Open to all — come as you are, however and whoever you are.

About the Lab Leader:

THIS AND is a slow-moving entity concerned with person-centred, socially engaged artistic practice. THIS AND has and will have many iterations and it allows the same for those it works with; it leaves space for multitudes and the wholeness of a person. Seeking multiple ways in, it looks to use multi-disciplinary art exploration as a basis for community. It calls all artists, hobbyists, and curious minds, and looks to create a web of people and ideas; vast, sprawling and vibrant.

Renée Bellamy is an interdisciplinary artist and facilitator whose practice is driven by a curiosity in movement (of images, of bodies) and community.

Accessibility:

Please note, we are on the second floor of a warehouse building, accessed by a staircase only. We regret that we cannot currently adequately support wheelchair users and those for whom stairs are a barrier.

We are committed to removing other barriers to access. If you would like to talk to us about your access needs, please contact: frances@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk. Read more about our commitments to anti-ableism as part of our Artist Community Culture Document

About Class Lab:
